Royal Crown Hair Dressing
A petrolatum and olive oil hair dressing that has barely changed in decades - four real ingredients and a fragrance. Light hold with heavy shine; used as much as a topper over a firmer pomade as on its own. Needs shampoo.

Smells like an old-school barbershop and the hold hangs on all day and then some. For a proper vintage slick look, it's amazing value.

That mirror shine is nice, but this is basically petroleum jelly and it's a nightmare to wash out, taking a few goes with a degreasing shampoo. It also ends up smeared all over my pillowcase.

The shine on this stuff is unreal and it locks in that classic slicked pompadour look, plus a little goes a long way. It's cheap as anything too, I don't know why I ever paid more for a fancy tin.

I use it as a topper over a firmer pomade and it adds a gorgeous glossy finish while calming down the bounce. On its own the hold is pretty light, so I wouldn't rely on it alone.
